Xiaoman Xia is not just a cat — she's the Chief Keyboard Supervisor and Chief Emotional Support Officer of my workspace.
Two little beginnings
When we first met
from Lixia, the day we first met
We found each other on Lixia,
one of the twenty-four traditional Chinese solar terms,
with hydrangeas blooming all around us.
Her last name, Xia, became our way of keeping
a little piece of that day forever.
When she came home
the day she came home
A few days later, she came home on Xiaoman,
another of the twenty-four traditional Chinese solar terms.
Her first name carries a simple wish:
to keep growing, to leave a little room for tomorrow,
and to find happiness in what is already here.
Her own little world

and all the little things we love.
